Benfica sign Lisandro Lopez

01 July 2013 - 08:09

Benfica have completed a move for Argentina defender Lisandro Lopez. The centre back has joined the Portuguese club from Arsenal de Sarandi, seemingly clearing the way for a transfer for Ezequiel Garay to Manchester United.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • The highly rated centre back, who scored 19 goals in 122 games for Sarandi, will move to Benfica in a deal worth approximately $4.5 million. The new Benfica man will pen a four year contract in Portugal.<br />

Lopez becomes yet another South American to move to Portugal and will be hoping to emulate the successes of his predecessor, Garay, at the Benfica side.
