Manchester City Close To Negredo Capture

06 July 2013 - 15:37

It has been reported by the Guardian that Manchester City might be very close to sealing the move of Alvaro Negredo . The Sevilla striker is reportedly all set for a switch to City in a deal which is valued at around £20m.

  • Predicted Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Crystal Palace, Evans starts
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • The striker has also drawn attention from clubs in Germany and Spain but sources from Sevilla are hopeful that a deal with City could be struck soon. Negredo has been in great form having scored 25 times in 36 league games.

The speculations are further fuelled by the fact that Sevilla recently rejected a bid for the player from Atletico Madrid.

    Del Nido said:

"Manchester City have not made any offer for him; nor have Tottenham and the offer from Atlético was turned down 11 days ago."

Although Del Nido admitted on Wednesday that, "There are two clubs in England who are interested in him and his departure could happen."

Sevilla would choose to sell him to a foreign club rather than allow him to move to a domestic rival team like Atletico. Del Nido would also be looking to sell the coveted striker at an increased price considering the need to raise money. Sevilla have just sold out Jesus Navas to City for £17m plus a further £4.5m in incentives.
