Cerezo: Villa Ideal Replacement For Falcao

Cerezo: Villa Ideal Replacement For Falcao

09 July 2013 - 16:17

Atletico Madrid are seemingly happy with their latest signing, David Villa. The club president Enrique Cerezo believes that Villa has been a significant transfer coup for Atletico.

 • Confirmed Man Utd line-up vs Liverpool, Matheus Cunha starts
 • Chelsea quoted price to sign Igor Thiago
 • Cerezo believes that Villa has in him what it’ll take to replace the former club striker Radamel Falcao, who departed for Monaco. The Colombian left Atletico earlier this summer for the money-rich French outfit in a deal worth £51.9m.
Cerezo admitted that it was sad to lose Falcao who had been the club’s key player for the last couple of seasons but he believes that the club has found the perfect replacement for him in form of the Barcelona striker.
"It is not easy to replicate the goals of Falcao but Villa can compensate very well”, Cerezo told the reporters.
"He has many seasons of football left and is a born goalscorer.

"Villa will hope for everything because it is important to be selected for Spain. We expect him to target a lot of goals.

"The price we have paid is the lowest possible. We are particularly pleased."
