The North London are set to battle out with Russian League outfit Zenit St.Petersburg to sign Inter Milan's Andrea Ranocchia according to reports in Italy.
The Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas who already has four experience centre-backs at his disposal is believed to be keen on the signing of the Italian International.
The 25-year-old,formerly from Bari has 9 International caps to his name for the Italian national side. He has been a key player for the Serie A club making 32 appearances last season but has been associated with a switch away from the club following a dismal ninth-place finish last season.
Spurs look set to be favourites to sign the talented centre-back but they still face a big task in acquiring his services as the player stated of his preference to stay in Italy.
