Tottenham in battle to sign Andrea Ranocchia

The North London are set to battle out with Russian League outfit Zenit St.Petersburg to sign Inter Milan's Andrea Ranocchia according to reports in Italy.

The Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas who already has four experience centre-backs at his disposal is believed to be keen on the signing of the Italian International.<br />

The 25-year-old,formerly from Bari has 9 International caps to his name for the Italian national side. He has been a key player for the Serie A club making 32 appearances last season but has been associated with a switch away from the club following a dismal ninth-place finish last season.<br />

Spurs look set to be favourites to sign the talented centre-back but they still face a big task in acquiring his services as the player stated of his preference to stay in Italy.
