Toivonen turns down Norwich City move

11 July 2013 - 15:27

Norwich City appear to have missed out on the signing of 27-year-old Sweden international striker Ola Toivonen. Norwich manager Chris Hughton had agreed a fee with the Dutch club for the versatile forward.

  • Whilst the two sides agreed a reported 7.4 million Euro fee for the player, it is understood that Toivonen himself decided against a move to the Premier League. Toivonen is hopeful that he can make a move to another bigger club in Europe, as there are reports of a potential move to Serie A with Fiorentina and Lazio both believed to be showing a strong interest in the player.<br />

Toivonen has 12 months remaining on his current deal at the Philips Stadion and has indicated he has no plans to sign a fresh deal with the Eredivisie side, so it is also believed the striker could wait until next summer before making a move on a Bosman transfer.
