Newcastle and Everton go head to head for Rolando signing

14 July 2013 - 11:02

Newcastle United and Everton will battle for the signature of Portuguese centre back Rolando, who currently plays for Porto. The 27-year-old is at the top of both the Toon Army and Toffees' shortlists this summer.

  • Roberto Martinez is already rumoured to have contacted Porto regarding Rolando, whilst the Daily Express suggests that Joe Kinnear, Newcastle's director of football, will start work tomorrow and his first task is to contact the Portuguese champions regarding the availability of the defender.

QPR almost completed a deal for the player back in January but a deal stalled after the London side were unable to convince Rolando that the team would be in the Premier League next year

Porto have quoted any potential suitor a reported £5 million fee for the player.
