Tottenham enter new contract talks with Bale

27 July 2013 - 11:20

Tottenham Hotspurs have started negotiations with Welsh winger Gareth Bale over a new contract amidst strong interest from Real Madrid.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Tottenham manager Andre Villas Boas had claimed that the club are in the process of negotiating an improved contract for the Premier League's best player from last season.

Real Madrid have been courting Bale ever since the transfer window rolled out but the London club have been determined to hold on to their most prized asset as they aim to finally break into the top four next season.

There has been widespread rumors of a possible €85 million offer from the La Liga giants but it appears Tottenham are desperate to tie the Welshman down to a long term contract.

The winger is likely to earn £150,000 per week if he agrees to the new contract that has been offered.
