Chelsea eye move for Arsenal target Luiz Gustavo

28 July 2013 - 14:05

The West London club Chelsea are eyeing a move for Arsenal summer target Luiz Gustavo. Chelsea's new manager has added up interest on  Bayern Munich's Luiz Gustavo since he finds the defensive midfield slot as an area that requires filling. According to reports from the Sunday People, the 'Special One' is preparing a bid in the region of £15 million for Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

Mourinho is apparently unconvinced with the abilities of Nigerian International John Obi Mikel  and feels that the addition of the talented Brazilian star from the Bundesliga will add more depth and strength to his holding midfield department.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Bayern Munich recently completed the signing of Thiago Alcantara from La Liga giants Barcelona , following the signing of Gotze which therefore sums up that fact that Luiz Gustavo's chances of earning a regular starting spot looks unlikely to happen at the Allianz Arena, and he would prefer a move to the West London side as he tries to affirm his position in the Brazilian squad for 2014 FIFA World Cup.

However,Chelsea could still face stiff competition from their London rivals Arsenal for Gustavo's signature, with the Brazilian also very much in the recogning in the Gunners shortlist.
