Liverpool chasing Lorenzo Melgarejo signature

29 July 2013 - 08:04

22-year-old Paraguayan defender Lorenzo Melgarejo has been linked with a loan move from Benfica to Liverpool as Brendan Rodgers seeks a replacement for Spanish defender Jose Enrique.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • In 2011 the player had an impressive loan spell at Pacos Ferreira and last year returned to his parent club Benfica and forced his way into the Portuguese side's first team plans. Another impressive year has attracted the interest of several clubs across Europe, one being Liverpool.

Melgarejo is very highly rated in Paraguay and Spanish side Sevilla are also known to be interested but Liverpool are the favourites to secure the signing as they have offered 500,000 Euros for a season long loan.
