<strong>Ligue 1 new boys AS Monaco have announced the signing of Sporting Gijon defender Borja Lopez on a four year contract.</strong>
The Spain U 19 iunternational has been targeted by several European clubs this summer after having grabbed their attention with a series of fine performances in the U 19 World Cup.<br />
However, high spending Monaco were the quickest to act on their interest and signed the highly talented youngster for €2.2 million.<br />
The player announced his move in twitter and his message read,"Very happy to have signed with Monaco until 2017."<br />
Sporting Gijon released a statement of their own in the club's official website wishing the youngster good luck for his future.<br />
"The club thank the footballer for his conduct on and off the pitch during his time at the club and wish him every success in the future."
