Ligue 1 new boys AS Monaco have announced the signing of Sporting Gijon defender Borja Lopez on a four year contract.
The Spain U 19 iunternational has been targeted by several European clubs this summer after having grabbed their attention with a series of fine performances in the U 19 World Cup.
However, high spending Monaco were the quickest to act on their interest and signed the highly talented youngster for €2.2 million.
The player announced his move in twitter and his message read,"Very happy to have signed with Monaco until 2017."
Sporting Gijon released a statement of their own in the club's official website wishing the youngster good luck for his future.
"The club thank the footballer for his conduct on and off the pitch during his time at the club and wish him every success in the future."
