Tottenham have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Major League Soccer over Clint Dempsey’s transfer. It had been reported recently that the 30-year-old was close to joining Seattle Sounders.

According to Goal.com, the American international will now make a return to his homeland after having made 43 appearances for Spurs and scoring 12 goals for them. The player was also on Everton&rsquo;s radar but he apparently chose to move to Seattle Sounders.<br />

The talented midfielder has been capped 99 times for the United States and joined Tottenham from Fulham a year ago. He has fallen further down the pecking order, following the arrival of Roberto Soldado and was hopeful of a move ahead of the upcoming World Cup in 2014.<br />
