Manchester United are set to face serious competition from Juventus in the race to sign Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde this winter, according to Sport.
The Red Devils were touted to land a new left-back in the last transfer window. Balde was one of the main options under consideration, but he ended up staying with the Blaugrana.
The decision has not proved worthwhile for him. Balde has yet to feature in any competition for the Catalan giants, with youngster Xavi Espart and Joao Cancelo ahead of him in the pecking order.
Hence, Balde could move on for playing time in the New Year. United are ready to make a fresh approach but could face stern competition from Juventus in the race for the left-back.
Balde is likely to want the assurance of regular starts to make the switch. United could provide him that with Shaw already 31. His current deal expires at the end of the ongoing season.
