Carvalho: Avrams the boss

Carvalho: Avram's the boss

04 November 2007 - 15:53

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho has insisted that Avram Grant is "the boss" at Chelsea, despite rumours that Henk Ten Cate is the decision maker at the club. The Portuguese defender has been impressed by both men.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • "Grant has his own playing style and Ten Cate complements his work," Carvalho told the News of the World.

"Our understanding with Grant is getting better all the time.

"A new coach needs time for his scheme to work and it is difficult because he is obliged to win every match.

"I think Ten Cate's experience is very important. He speaks to us clearly."

After a poor start to the season Chelsea have begun to play with a swagger in recent weeks and Carvalho is confident they could yet have a say in the title race.

"I still predict a very open title race. With a lot of hard work we have overcome the first crisis of the season."
