Newcastle rule out move for Stewart Downing

07 August 2013 - 18:26

Newcastle will not be making a bid for Liverpool winger Stewart Downing. The Toon Army's manager Alan Pardew had reportedly tabled a bid for the England international, but today Pardew ruled out a move for the former Middlesbrough man.

"I'm a little bit surprised because there was no enquiry from us," Pardew told reporters. <br /><br />"We certainly haven't made any moves towards Stewart. He's a fine player and a Liverpool player."
