Liverpool eye move for German left back Diego Contento

Liverpool have made an approach for Bayern Munich's left back Diego Contento. The 23-year-old is currently a backup player for the German champions and Liverpool's manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful a deal can be wrapped up before the end of August.

Rodgers' top priority is to sign a brand new left back as a backup for Jose Enrique and it is understood that the Northern Irish coach has sent scouts to watch Contento in training and pre-season.<br />

Contento has so far struggled to oust Philipp Lahm from the left back role at the Allianz Arena and has decided that his future now lies elsewhere.
