Sunderland set to snatch Cissokho from Liverpool grasp

Sunderland set to snatch Cissokho from Liverpool grasp

14 August 2013 - 07:50

Premier League side are believed on the verge of beating Liverpool to the signature of Valencia full back Aly Cissokho according to Sky Sports.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The 25 year old former Lyon defender made his move to the Mestalla last summer and has since then made 25 appearances for the La Liga side.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was strongly interested in the France international and the player had revealed having accepted personal terms with the Merseysiders.

However, Liverpool failed to meet Valencia's expectations with respect to the player's price and it seems Sunderland have emerged as the outstanding candidates to sign him.

New Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio has been extremely active this summer as he attempts a massive overhaul at the club. The Italian has already signed Emanuele Giaccherini from Juventus and also secured a loan deal for Danny Graham.

The English side are believed to be angling for a loan move with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of it. However, it is unsure if Valencia would agree to it as they are keen on offloading Cissokho due to their financial problems.
