Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao has urged his club to let him leave this summer according to their manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The 25 year old Portugal international is keen to play regular football ahead of the next year's World Cup and wants to find a new club so as to boost his first team opportunities.
Brazilian defender Marcelo is the preferred first choice left back at the club and Coentrao will find his chances limited in the coming season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Italian revealed that the former Benfica star has 'asked to leave the club' this summer with Tottenham still interested in his signature.
Coentrao managed just 16 appearances for the La Liga giants last season and has his heart set for a move away from the Spanish capital.
He joined Real for close around £25 million two summers back but Spurs are only ready to cough up £17 million for the defender.
