Nigel Adkins wants new additions at Reading

19 August 2013 - 15:21

Reading boss Nigel Adkins is hopeful of further adding to his squad and win back promotion to the Premier League in the first attempt this season.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Royals finished last 19th in the league last season and will compete in the Championship this current season.

Adkins has shored up his squad by bringing in Royston Drenthe, Danny Williams and Wayne Bridge but rejected all claims that he is after the signature of Stoke striker Cameron Jerome.

"There's going to be lots of speculation, every manager wants to strengthen their group," he said.

"There's two and a bit weeks until the window, we scored three and if we hadn't scored three people would be asking more questions about strikers. We're working hard behind the scenes."

Reading finished with a draw in Saturday's weekend encounter with Championship side with Watford and Adkins is keen to add more firepower to his squad following the result.
