Ireland vows to score more

07 November 2007 - 19:42

Man City midfielder Stephen Ireland has vowed to concentrate on scoring more goals for the Citizens. The Irish midfielder scored the winner against Sunderland on Monday, and was lucky to escape punishment for his actions.

  • Chelsea set to hold talks with £22m winger
  • Chelsea set for contract talks with £26m star

  • He said on the club’s official website: “We have to get up and support the front man, looking for the bits, flick-ons and when we go into games we got to be patient and keep the belief that they are going to come.

“It could be the 89th minute when we score, but we’ve just got to believe that the ball’s going to drop and keep the concentration and composure to finish it.”

He added: “There’s a great team spirit and it’s a team game. It’s not about individuals taking the plaudits it’s just about us knuckling down together.

“We’re third now and who knows what we could achieve by the end of the season?”
