Monaco held to draw by Toulouse

24 August 2013 - 02:36

Ligue 1 newcomers were held to a bore draw at the Stade Louis II by Toulouse, as both clubs failed to threaten each other's goals for large parts of the game.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The biggest threat came from Monaco's midfield summer signing, Jeremy Toulalan at stoppage time when his freekick from 25 yards out hit the crossbar.

Record signing Radamel Falcao failed to find the net or at least threaten during the game. The player has insisted that he's staying following reports that he is going to quit Monaco due to new legislation that might oblige Monaco players to pay taxes.

The game was played behind closed doors after Monaco got punished for having a pitch invasion last season against Le Mans.

Despite the draw, Monaco moved to the top of the Ligue 1.
