Owen Coyle denies having received offers for McCarthy

29 August 2013 - 14:45

Recently relegated Wigan boss Owen Coyle has revealed that there has been enquiries made over James McCarthy but there has not been any official bids tabled as of yet.

  • Chelsea want to sign Lyon star to replace Jadon Sancho
  • Arsenal want to bring Aymeric Laporte back to England

  • The Republic of Ireland international has been one of the top performers for the Latics last season in their amazing run to lift the FA cup. Although Coyle admits that he is yet to receive any bids for his players, he is prepared to losing McCarthy in the final hours of the transfer window.

"Do we expect phone calls? Absolutely because that's the nature of the window," said Coyle.

"Some will be people chasing, others will be genuine enquiries, and then from that there might be some sort of bids.

"As it is there hasn't been any as of yet but you never say never in this game."

He added: "As much as we'd like to be knowing in advance we're prepared for any eventuality.

"But there's no bids as we sit here for any of our players."
