Gullit gets LA Galaxy job

09 November 2007 - 00:08

Ruud Gullit has confirmed that he will become the LA Galaxy coach. The 45-year-old Dutchman will be responsible for the progress of England superstar David Beckham for the next few months.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd can finally sign Ederson for huge bargain fee
  • Gullit will take over for Frank Yallop, who led the club to a 9-14-7 record while missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year this season. Yallop joined 2008 expansion club San Jose earlier this week

Although Major League Soccer does not reveal details of player and coach contracts, reports in Britain, where Gullit has been working for Sky Sports, suggested that he had signed a three-year contract worth an estimated $10 million.

Former German national team coach Juergen Klinsmann also was approached by AEG for the Galaxy job but said he preferred to continue coaching on the national team level.
