Manchester City have confirmed that defender Martin Demichelis is expected to be out of first team action for six weeks following a knee injury.
As per reports, the 32-year-old defender suffered an injury blow during a practice match at Manchester City's training ground yesterday.
This could be a huge deficit for the Premier League runners-up as they had signed Demichelis just five days ago from La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid, inorder to provide manager Manuel Pellegrini with sufficient defensive back-up.
A statement on the club's official website said : "The club doctor confirmed a scan last night revealed ligament damage, but that surgery is not required."
