Juventus club administrator Giuseppe Marrotta believes that Italy international Gian Luigi Buffon will finish his footballing career at the Turin club.

  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The 35 year old received a standing ovation from the crowd during Italy's 2-1 win over the Czech Republic as he equalled Fabio Cannavarro's record of most international caps of 136.

"Buffon is a true champion," Juventus club administrator Giuseppe Marotta said to Gazzetta dello Sport. "He is a superlative professional.

    "He deserves this recognition.

"My hope and wish is that he can defend Italy and Juve's goal for many years to come.

"I believe and I hope that he will finish his career with Juve and this is the basis for him to remain at Juve for a long time."

Buffon has signed a contract extension earlier this year which will see him stay at the Stadio delle Alpi till 2015.
