Catania defender Nicolas Spolli has revealed that he rejected a switch to Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur.<br /><br />The Argentine centre-back was reportedly linked with a move to the North London club for a fee of £7m on transfer deadline day, but he had given prior confirmation to the Italian club's president Antonino Pulvirenti on his decision to stay at Sicily.<br /><br />The 30-year-old told La Sicilia : <em>"When the interest from Tottenham came in, the club didn't even need to ask me, because they knew what my intentions were. </em><br /><br /><em>"I had told the president that I wanted to remain in Catania as soon as last season came to a close, before there was any talk of transfers.</em><br /><br /><em>"I am happy in Catania, it's a wonderful city and when I have the time it's incredible to enjoy both the sea and Etna."</em>
