German international Mesut Ozil is confident that Arsenal can win a trophy this year, thus ending their barren spell of eight years without winning silverware. The Gunners are to take on Sunderland today in the Premier League, with Ozil set to make his debut.
There has been a flurry of media interest since Ozil completed his transfer move from Real Madrid, with many questioning Ozil's decision to make a move to the Emirates. However, the Germany international is certain Arsenal will soon be winning trophies again.
"Of course, definitely. I know the team and the talent we have here. Every player wants to be successful and Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the world," said Ozil.
"We definitely want to achieve something with this team - that is what we work for. Of course it will be very difficult because the league is the strongest in the world. But we will give everything to achieve success.
"We want to play attractive football to improve but of course also successful football. I can't promise to win trophies but I can promise as a team we can give our all to in trophies."
