Jose Enrique: 'Daniel Sturridge can be one of the best strikers in the World'

16 September 2013 - 01:02

Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has insisted that Daniel Sturridge has all the traits of being a world class striker in time to come.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Sturridge was named as the Premier League player of the month for August having led the Reds to three consecutive wins in the Premier League this season.

The 24-year-old England International has notched up 16 goals in 20 appearances since his January switch from Chelsea to Liverpool, making Reds defender Enrique believe that he will be the Premier League's top scorer this campaign and will go on to become one of the best strikers in the World.

He told Reporters: "I tell Daniel all of the time that if he wants he can become one of the best strikers in the world. He is one of the most complete players I've ever played with. He has everything for a striker.

"He's quick, amazing when it's one against one, very very fast, not bad in the air and is clinical with both feet. I think he will be the top scorer in the league this season. But if we are to be successful, it can't be about one or two players.

"Kolo Toure said this week that to be a top team you don't just need top players. You all have to be together. Other clubs have spent more money than us, but we are all together and that's why we have started the season so well."
