Juventus director Marotta plays down Llorente rumors

Juventus director Marotta plays down Llorente rumors

16 September 2013 - 15:57

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that there is no problem with new signing Fernando Llorente despite rumors suggesting he might be unsettled at the club.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Llorente, 28 years old, moved to the Stadio delle Alpi this summer for free after he refused to sign a new contract with his previous employers Atletico Madrid. The Spain international was left on the becnh for the majority of last season as a result of his refusal.

However, the prolific striker has been a peripheral figure in Juventus' season so far having made only one substitute appearance. This has led to a growing interest in a host of top European clubs but Marotta played down any rumors linking him with a move away.

"There is no Llorente problem. Don't forget that he didn't play that regularly last season," he said.

"When we sign a player and hand him a four-year contract, we're evidently not looking for immediate results in the space of one or two months.

"We believe in him and it is too early to judge."
