El Sharaawy rejected move away from Milan

El Sharaawy rejected move away from Milan

17 September 2013 - 18:11

AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has revealed that Italy international Stephane El Sharaawy rejected a chance to leave the club in the summer and triple his wages.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The Milan youngster is widely regarded as one of the most promising strikers in Europe but has seen his goalscoring form decline recently. The 20 year old has been struggling of late to get into the first team but remains an integral part of Milan's plans for the season according to Galliani.

"I'd like to remind people that if we are in the Champions League, then part of the credit goes to El Shaarawy," vice-president Galliani told reporters ahead of Milan's European clash with Celtic on Wednesday.

"He is only 20 years old and flew up the ranking, so growing up that quickly is difficult. Our judgement on him is absolutely positive, he has a five-year contract and we believe in him.

"He showed how much he cares about the club colours, because over the summer he could've moved to a team that was prepared to triple his wages."
