Adkins concedes defeat in signing Sissoko

18 September 2013 - 16:52

Reading manager Nigel Adkins has revealed that negotiations with former Paris St Germain midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has come to a stall and they have decided to drop their interest.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • The Royals have been interested in the French born midfielder after he became a free agent following the mutual termination of his contract with Paris St Germain. The 28 year old was believed to have undergone medical at the club but Adkins confirmed that the deal has fallen through.

Adkins said in the Reading Post: "That's not going to happen."

However, the Reading boss has admitted that the club are still in the look out for a new striker and are likely to strike a loan deal with one.

Adkins added: "If something materialises that we believe can benefit and enhance the group then we'll be very active.

"But at the moment we're working hard with the group we've got and our focus is on the next game, which is against Leeds United."
