Villa boss Lambert has ruled out loan exit for Albrighton

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has ruled out a loan move for young midfielder Marc Albrighton in a bid to get him some first team football at the club.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • The 23 year old has been struggling to find regular football at Villa Park ever since Lambert took over as a result of injuries last season. There were reports that he might be sent out on loan to get him regular football but Lambert is keen to keep him at the club.

"He's been unfortunate, Marc," Lambert told the Birmingham Mail.

"He missed nearly a whole season, he's still really short (of match fitness).

"If something comes up and I think it's right I'll look at it. If I don't he'll stay here.

"He possibly needs a good run, he needs to stay injury free. He missed most of last year and even in pre-season he missed games.

"He needs that run where he does not break down.

"It's a big year but he will help himself. It's unfair as he has missed a lot of game time."
