Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has insisted that the Red Devils will go into the the match against Liverpool highly motivated, as they look to erase the memories of last weekend's derby disappointment.
The Premier League champions lost to arch rivals Manchester City by a embarassing scoreline of 4-1,with Rooney's excellent free kick proving to be the only consolation.
Rooney has insisted that United's squad must try to put things back by producing an impressive display against Liverpool in the Capital One cup on Wednesday night.
He told GiveMeSport: "Disappointing game yesterday, our performance just wasn't good enough.
"It's up to us as players to put it right now and there can be no better game to motivate us than facing Liverpool in the cup on Wednesday."
