Chelsea have reportedly confirmed that their summer signing Marco van Ginkel will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The talented Dutch midfielder is set to spend some time on the sidelines following an anterior cruciate ligament tear during the Blues' 2-0 win over Swindon Town in the third round of the Capital One cup on Tuesday.
According to Sky Sports, the Blues have confirmed that Van Ginkel would undergo a surgery, further adding that the 20-year-old is expected to be out for six to nine months.
Van Ginkel joined Chelsea from Vitesse Arnhem during the summer transfer window.
