Real Madrid hit hard by Bale injury

02 October 2013 - 15:21

Real Madrid have confirmed that their world record transfer signing Gareth Bale has suffered a muscle contracture in his left thigh and faces an indefinite time on the sidelines.

  • The 24 year old has been struggling with injuries throughout the summer and failed to turn out for his former club during the pre season fixtures. Bale's injury condition made no progress even after completing his move to the Bernabeu and has only made two league appearances for the Los Blancos.

The Welshman had already been ruled out of tonight's Champions League encounter with FC Copenhagen but the recent diagnosis suggests a longer absence from first team action.

"After the tests carried out today, the player Gareth Bale has been diagnosed with a muscle contracture in his left thigh," said a statement on the Real Madrid website.

"It remains to be seen how the condition develops."
