Man Utd target Ander Herrera staying put

04 October 2013 - 01:52

Reported Manchester United target Ander Herrera will not be allowed to leave Athletic Bilbao. The midfielder almost joined David Moyes' side during the summer but a deal was scuppered at the last minute.

  • Chelsea ready to pay €75m for Eduardo Camavinga
  • Chelsea planning move for Strasbourg striker Joaquin Panichelli

  • United reportedly came close to agreeing a 25 million Euro deal with Bilbao for Herrera, but the player indicated that he saw his immediate future at his hometown club.

Josu Urrutia, Bilbao's manager, has now taken time to tell reporters that no deal will be agreed to sell his club's star player: "I don't know what other teams will do, but I consider the Herrera issue to be closed.

"Ander has a contract until 2016. All players have to focus on giving Athletic all you can give."
