Saint-Etienne poised to sign Modibo Maiga in January

French Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne are set to acquire the services of West Ham forward Modibo Maiga for a transfer fee of £1.5m when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Maiga failed to make an impact with the Hammers ever since his £4.7m switch from Sochaux back in July 2012.<br />

The Mali striker has scored only two league goals and has fallen down the pecking order following the arrivals of Mladen Petric and Carlton Cole<br />

The return of club's record signing Andy Carroll by the end of November could seal the player's fate with the East London club in the New Year.
