According to reports, Sunderland could make a surprise January transfer move for Southampton's midfielder Gaston Ramirez. The Uruguayan international has been told that he is free to leave if a club matches the Saints' 15 million Euro valuation.
Ramirez has been linked with a return to Italy, with the likes of Napoli interested. Turkish giants Galatasaray have also made an enquiry for the player.<br />
It appears that Sunderland manager Gus Poyet is ready to make a surprise bid for Ramirez and is willing to match the reported transfer fee. Poyet, who is also Uruguayan, has already been in contact with Black Cats' club representatives to discuss a potential transfer switch.
