Stoke and Sunderland battle for Nicklas Bendtner

04 November 2013 - 05:18

Stoke City and Sunderland are both hoping to complete a move to sign Denmark international striker Nicklas Bendtner. The Arsenal forward is still available for transfer having been told he is free to leave the Gunners last year.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • After spells on loan at the likes of Juventus and Sunderland, the striker is now hoping to make a permanent transfer away from Arsenal but was unable to complete a transfer deadline day loan deal to Crystal Palace. Since then, opportunities have been limited at the Emirates and Bendtner is still hoping for a transfer move elsewhere.

Both Stoke and Sunderland are in the race to sign the Denmark forward, and are prepared to match Arsenal's valuation. Stoke manager Mark Hughes has been unimpressed with his forward's so far this year whilst Sunderland's problems seem to lie in the goalscoring department, thus both teams are ready to make a bid for the Arsenal striker as soon as the transfer window reopens in January.
