Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is weighing up a move for French free agent Sidney Govou. The 34-year-old veteran forward last played for Evian in Ligue 1.

Govou is hoping for one last season in a top flight division in European football and has been patiently waiting for a chance to prove himself in England for his entire career. In the past, Govou has been linked with a move to both Arsenal and Liverpool but, apart from a short spell in Greece with Panathinaikos, has spent his playing career in his homeland.<br />

Cardiff are hoping to sign the Frenchman on a short term deal until the end of the year as backup for the likes of Craig Bellamy, Fraizer Campbell and Peter Odemwingie.<br />

Govou played for the French national team over 49 times during an impressive international career.
