Nicklas Bendtner mulls over failed Arsenal transfer exit

10 November 2013 - 13:08

Arsenal backup striker Nicklas Bendtner has told reporters in his homeland that he is disappointed to still be at the Emirates Stadium. The Denmark international almost completed a transfer move away but Arsene Wenger scuppered a deal at the very last minute.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Numerous clubs are known to have shown some interest in Bendtner in the summer, including German sides Eintracht Frankfurt and Hertha Berlin whilst in recent weeks Premier League sides Stoke City and Sunderland are monitoring Bendtner's situation.

Despite that, Bendtner is very miserable and wants to quit Arsenal as soon as possible. He shed some light on his failed transfer away from the Emirates with Danish publication Berlingske: "Everything was in place for me [to leave], there were three clubs that were just waiting for me to say 'yes please' to them. I was very disappointed when the manager phoned because I was ready to move on. I didn't actually think that they wished to keep me.

"As I have been at the club since I was 16 I found it ridiculous that they placed me in the reserves and let me train on my own. However, suddenly everything was like old times again. I was training with the first team, I was hanging out with the first team and I had a dietician again. From being completely out to being completely in again."
