Tottenham striker Robbie Keane has praised ex-boss Martin Jol and said that he loved working with the Dutchman, saying he was "spot on". Spurs struggled this year and failed to move off the bottom end of the Premiership and Jol lost his job.

  • Spaniard Juande Ramos has since taken over after quitting Sevilla, where he had an impressive trophy-laden spell.

Spurs stand-in skipper Keane has praised the way of working and unwavering attitude of Jol even in times of immense speculation and pressure leading up to his departure.

"He was the same as always. I haven't got a bad word to say about Martin Jol. I loved working with him, and we got on really well,” said the Republic of Ireland international.

"Unfortunately we are in a results-driven business here, and if you don't get the results you have to accept it and move on.

"Martin is an honest man. He'll tell you how it is and you can have a laugh with him, which is important. I loved working with him. He was spot-on."
