Everton manager Roberto Martinez could be set to raid his former club Wigan Athletic with a move for Scottish international midfielder Shaun Maloney. The player is reportedly unhappy at the Latics and desperate for a return to the Premier League.
Maloney, who very nearly helped keep Wigan from a relegation last season with a number of impressive performances at the heart of the Latics' midfield, has so far stayed with Wigan but is now considering a move away.Everton have been guaranteed a large transfer budget in January, partially because of the leftover money not yet spent from the sale of Marouane Fellaini to Manchester United. Maloney is expected to sit down and discuss a move with Wigan representatives next week.
