Newcastle United are planning a surprise January swoop for Fulham's star striker Dimitar Berbatov.
The former Bulgarian International has grown disillusioned with his life at the Craven Cottage of late, and is understood to be keen on an exit from the West London club following the sacking of manager Martin Jol.
According to The Mirror, Magpies manager Alan Pardew is keen on acquiring the player's services, and will make an offer of around £2m for the former Manchester United marksman during the winter transfer window.
Arsenal have also been linked with the veteran striker, with the player's agent Emil Danchev indicating that his client is unhappy with his stay in West London.
Fulham are currently in the drop zone, having been thrashed 4-1 by Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
