Xabi Alonso signs new Real Madrid contract

09 January 2014 - 02:54

Real Madrid star midfielder Xabi Alonso has put pen to paper on a new two year contract with his club. The signing will cool the interest of Chelsea, who had made the Spanish international a top priority signing during the month of January.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The 32-year-old's contract was due to expire at the Bernabeu this summer, but the former Liverpool man has now agreed to stay put for a further two years thus ending the interest of several of Europe's top sides.<br />

"This will continue to be my home for two more years. I am very happy to tell you. Come on Madrid!", wrote Alonso on his official Twitter account.
