West Ham to make bid for Southampton striker Rickie Lambert

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has tabled an offer to Southampton for fan favourite Rickie Lambert. The striker has been linked with a move away from St Mary's having found his first team place in jeopardy on the South Coast.

The Hammers have struggled for goals this year, partially through a heavy injury list and lack of strikers, however manager Sam Allardyce is now ready to spend big to secure the signing of the England international.<br />

Lambert is understood to be eagerly looking for a move elsewhere ahead of the World Cup this coming summer.<br />

West Ham have reportedly made a bid worth £7.5 million for the striker.
