Manchester City have released their Norwegian midfielder Abdisalam Ibrahim. The 22 year old only made one league appearance for the club since joining them in 2007.

  • The Norway youth international had recently expressed his frustrations at not being able to get any game time at the Etihad stadium.

A statement on City's Twitter account read: "The club can confirm that Abdisalam Ibrahim has been released from his contract. We wish him well for the future."

Reports suggest that he signed a three and a half year deal with Greek giants Olympiakos.

Premier League clubs Fulham, Swansea City and Newcastle had been credited with an interest in the Somalia-born midfielder.
