Everton manager Roberto Martinez wants to expand his squad in time for the end of January as he looks to add Valencia midfielder Sergio Canales to his rapidly growing Toffees squad.
The 22-year-old, formerly of Real Madrid, has been linked with a move to Goodison Park before during his time at the Bernabeu but a deal could not be pushed through in time.
The attacking midfielder is hoping to kick start his career in a foreign league after an unsuccessful spell at the Mestalla.
Romelu Lukaku has already joined Everton on loan this month.
