01 August 2007 - 16:18

Blackburn are adamant that they are to keep Benni McCarthy this season after several clubs expressed an interested in the South African striker. The former Porto player had a superb season the Premiership and the interest of some exclusive sides had started rumours of interest in his services.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni
  • However, the Blackburn chairman has moved to reject the chance of McCarthy leaving the club, instead saying that he will be staying to fight for his first team place. The arrival of Rigters and Santa Cruz will be putting the striker under pressure to perform and gives Mark Hughes plenty of selection headaches ahead of the new season.
