Man Utd veteran Rio Ferdinand to join LA Galaxy

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is ready to quit England and move to the MLS and join LA Galaxy, David Beckham's former club. The centre back is out of contract in the summer.

  • Man Utd are believed to have already offered the veteran a new one year extension to his current deal, but Rio is said to have privately told his family that he would like to move to the USA.

    Ferdinand, who appeared 81 times over 14 years for the England national team, joined Man Utd in 2002 for a massive £30 million deal. A successful 12 years have followed but now the 35-year-old is said to be seeking a new challenge in a new country.

    Rio has only appeared in seven first team Premier League games so far this season.
