Lazio have confirmed that Valencia striker Helder Postiga has joined the club on loan until the end of the season. The Serie A club have an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the current campaign.
All the formalities of the deal were completed after the striker flew in from Spain on Thursday.
The 31 year old has been sporadically used under new manager Juan Antonio Pizzi and would have found his game time further reduced after the arrival of Eduardo Vargas from Italian club Napoli.
The former Real Zaragoza striker was concerned with his lack of game time at Los Che and feared he could miss out on this summer's World cup with Portugal.
The Portuguese international has scored three league goals this season in 15 appearances last of which came in a 3-2 defeat to Barcelona.
